Screen types and grades
Panel technology sets the ceiling on how the repair looks; grading describes how consistent a given batch is. Both belong in the buying decision.
Original-equipment OLED
Panels matching the display the phone shipped with. Best colour and brightness, highest cost, and the fewest surprises with software features.
Aftermarket soft / hard OLED
Soft OLED bends closer to the original and generally looks better; hard OLED is cheaper and stiffer. Both are common on newer iPhone repairs.
Incell LCD
The value option for older models and budget-conscious customers. Noticeably different in black levels and viewing angle, but far cheaper per unit.
A / A- / B grading
Suppliers grade cosmetic and functional consistency. Choosing the grade by your customer’s budget matters more than chasing the cheapest unit.
Where repair shops lose money
None of these are exotic. They are the four failures we see most often when a shop shows us why its parts spend is higher than it should be.
Shared-screen models
Several phone models use the same panel, and several look identical but do not. This is the single most common reason a repair shop ends up with unusable stock.
Software feature loss
True Tone, auto-brightness, and Face ID behaviour can change after a screen swap depending on the panel and pairing. Set customer expectations before the repair, not after.
Buying on unit price alone
A cheaper panel with a higher failure rate costs more once you count the second repair, the shipping, and the customer you lost.
Mixed batches
Batch-to-batch variation is real. Ordering a sample from a new batch before committing to volume is cheaper than discovering the difference across fifty repairs.

What is the difference between OLED and Incell LCD replacement screens?
OLED panels light each pixel individually, so blacks are true black and contrast is high — matching what most modern iPhones shipped with. Incell LCD uses a backlight, so blacks look grey and viewing angles are weaker, but it costs substantially less. For older models and price-sensitive customers, Incell is often the sensible choice.
Why do I keep receiving screens that do not fit?
Usually because of shared-screen groups: some models take an identical panel while others look nearly identical but differ in connector position, flex length, or frame shape. Ordering by marketing name alone is unreliable — the model group has to be confirmed before the order.
Will the customer see a “non-genuine display” message?
On recent iPhones, a warning about a non-genuine display can appear after replacement, and features such as True Tone may stop working depending on the panel and whether pairing is preserved. Behaviour varies by model and batch, so it is worth telling the customer up front.
Should I buy a sample before ordering in volume?
Yes, especially with a new supplier, a new grade, or a model you have not stocked before. One sample verifies fit, brightness, touch response, and feature behaviour for a fraction of the cost of a batch you cannot use.
Do you sell single units or only wholesale?
Wholesale pricing is built for repair businesses ordering repeatedly, but single-unit sample orders are available and recommended before a first bulk order.
